As a precursor to the summer’s first intense warm-up, the National Weather Service issued a Bay Area heat advisory that will kick in Friday and could last the whole weekend.A Bay Area fire official kicked in another advisory, as well.“As it gets warm, the snakes will come out,” Darren Johnson, an Assistant Fire Chief for the Rodeo-Hercules Fire Department in Contra Costa County, said. “They’re gonna want to get to where it’s warm. Sometimes, that’s cement, sometimes that’s a driveway. Sometimes, it’s where mud has been by a side of a road. But it happens when it gets warm.”And some of those snakes carry a rattle, he said. Alameda County judge robbed at downtown Oakland ATM

OAKLAND — A retired Alameda County judge was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday after leaving an ATM in downtown Oakland, authorities said.The robbery happened about 5:05 p.m. Wednesday in the 1900 block of Franklin Street. Authorities said she had just used a bank ATM and was walking to her car when a man with a gun confronted her and took her bag containing her phone, wallet and cash.The robber fled in a waiting vehicle and was last seen going northbound on Franklin Street at 20th Street. Police believe the same suspects were involved in another armed robbery of a man who had just made a deposit at a bank in the 2000 block of Franklin Street at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. The man lost his phone, wallet and other personal items in the robbery.Recently, Oakland police have warned about an “uptick” in robberies at ATMs throughout the city. 'Hottest temps of the summer' on the way, according to National Weather Service

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- The hottest temperatures of the summer are about to arrive in the Bay Area, according to the National Weather Service. The warming trend will begin Thursday afternoon before really kicking into gear high Friday, the NWS said. Bay Area Heat AdvisoryA heat advisory goes into effect on Friday and will remain until Sunday. Temperatures will be especially high in the inland Bay Area and Central Coast. The heat will bring a moderate to high risk to those who are heat sensitive, the NWS said."We are going to be under an advisory starting at 11 a.m. Friday and going through Sunday evening," said KRON4 Meteorologist Kyla Grogan.
